tannery

Our leather comes from Italy, where vegetable tanning has been a tradition for generations. We obtain the hides from a tannery in Tuscany, which has specialised in vegetable leather tanning for more than seventy years. It produces robust leather, which is mainly used in the accessory and interior industry and supplies its products to a large number of international luxury houses.

There, the most modern techniques meet traditional tanning methods. The aim is to create an environmentally friendly product that is durable and still has all the natural characteristics of leather.

Vegetable tanning is the oldest way of tanning leather and was first mentioned in 6,000 BC. It is an organic tanning method based on vegetable tanning agents such as bark, leaves, berries and other plant extracts.

In contrast to chrome tanning, vegetable tanning is much more time-consuming. The hides that Naditum use for its bag production need about 40 days until the raw material becomes leather that is ready for production.
